Levy also enlisted in the Page 5 Texas Navy in 1836 and later settled in Matagorda County. 10 Although Louis Levy had established roots in Houston (he was a founder of the Houston Hebrew Benevolent Association), his daughter Julia and her husband Alex Simon decided to settle in Dallas.
